Thanks to everyone who has helped

Friday, November 13th, 2009

Thanks to everyone who has helped the Room To Read fundraiser last week!! We made $275 and are at $2250.
We are over half way to our $4000 goal to build a library in areas that do not have this privilege.

We are hoping to reach our goal by the end of the year and we need your help to get there.

I know you have been wanting to help so how can you help?

We are having a breakfast bake sale next Friday during X-Block.  We are looking for a few good bakers to make things like bananna bread and muffins.
If you can’t bake, you can donate money to our outreach students so they can bake the goods.
Please reply sender if you would like to help this worthy cause.  As the age old saying goes:

“Give a man a fish and he eats for a day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime”

Room 2 Read and Carousel

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Today was our last day for the bake sale.  We made $130 today to put us up to $500 for all four days!!  Thanks to Mike Thorsen (was doing his work job and helped out), Suraj and Ezra for helping out today.  A special thanks goes to Annika Lotze for helping her Mom set up today!!

The cast of Carousel also donated some of their party money to us.  Not just a little money but they generously gave up a fancier party to donate $100 to our cause.  If you see ANY Carousel members, please thank them enthusiastically!!

We made over $600 and should make more tonight as I sell the left overs in Tron (sorry but not enough left to go to other dorms)!!

We are now at…drum roll please….$1870!!

Good job, everyone!!  We are almost half way there so we need to come up with some other good ideas to earn the next $2000.

GOOGLE LAUNCHES ROOM TO READ ‘THEME’ ON IGOOGLE

Friday, December 12th, 2008

Igoogle
From the Room to Read homepage…

San Francisco, CA – December 10, 2008 – In the spirit of the
holidays, Google has launched a Room to Read "theme" on iGoogle as part of a
collection called "Themes for Causes".

Room to Read is one of 25 nonprofit causes included in the special initiative which includes
an iGoogle header of rotating photographs showcasing Room to Read's programs. With iGoogle,
anyone can support the cause that inspires them most by adding that theme to their iGoogle
homepage.

iGoogle is a service of Google where users can add features such web feeds, animation and
gadgets to customize their homepage. Currently, iGoogle is available in 42 languages in over
70 country domains.

The goal of the "Themes for Causes" campaign is to help nonprofit organizations
increase their reach by making their themes available to the millions of iGoogle users around
the world. The intent is to raise awareness and donations, as users will have the ability to
contribute to Room to Read through a special button that links directly to the Room to Read
donations page.

We encourage all our supporters to update your iGoogle homepage by adding the Room to Read theme today. The more users we
have, the higher we rank!
